Andrew Lightman has worked as a professional photojournalist, both salaried and freelance, in Washington, D.C., since 2004. His primary subjects have been fine cuisine, District politicians, and historic sites and events in the Nation's Capitol. His photos have appeared in feature spreads and as covers in the publications of Capitol Community News, where he serves as Managing Editor, as well as in The Washington Post, The Washington Examiner, The Washington City Paper, and blogs like The DCist.

Andrew believes that photography--especially food photography--doesn't have to be complicated to be powerful and evocative. Rather than expensive lighting and elaborate equipment, Andrew most often enjoys working taking advantage of natural light and the inherent beauty to be found in his subject.
